Heat Pump Specialists

The air source heat pump is a tried and tested heating system that has been widely used across Europe for years and more recently, in part due to the Government’s determination to cut carbon emissions, across the UK.

Air source heat pumps absorb heat from the outside air and by doing so can provide up to 100% of a home’s hot water and heating needs.  This heat, once absorbed, can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating or warm air convectors and hot water in your home. Air source heat pumps are designed to use electricity to convert heat energy in the surrounding air into hot water, even when external temperatures are as low as -20 degrees Celsius.

Heat pumps can be used in almost any property and are a particularly cost effective alternative to oil and LPG systems. They are considered a renewable energy source because they can generate between 4-5 times the amount of heat energy than the electrical energy they consume.

Whilst the initial outlay of a system like this may seem expensive, not only will your monthly outgoings be significantly reduced as a consequence of installation, but you may be eligible for the Government’s RHI scheme which could see you receive payments over the course of seven years to cover the cost of installation.

We are all becoming more aware of the impact we are having on the environment and looking for ways to generate and use energy more effectively, whilst also saving money.  An air source heat pump allows you to heat your home and reduces the amount of energy required to do so.

An air source heat pump works by absorbing heat energy from outside, amplifying it and then releasing it into the central heating system to provide home heating via radiator based central heating systems or under floor heating and hot water.

Benefits of Air Source Heat Pumps

  • Lower fuel bills, particularly if you are replacing conventional heating systems

  • Lower carbon emissions

  • No fuel deliveries needed

  • Heats your home as well as your water

  • Minimal maintenance required

  • Much easier to install compared to a Ground Source Heat Pump

Air Conditioning

Air conditioners are 4 times more effective at both cooling and heating the air in your homes and businesses.  Modern air conditioning systems use Heat Pump technology to generate (heat) and remove (cool) thermal energy from a building in an efficient and cost effective way.  Classed as a renewable energy system, air conditioning system installation receives a reduced rate of VAT at 5%. Air source heat pumps and Air conditioning units still require electricity to function, so why not look at a package that includes a solar panel electricity system to offset the running costs and potentially make the system completely independent? Speak to Glen and the team about the best option for you and your property.

Solar panels are one of the best ways to save money whilst saving the environment particularly now as development in battery storage means you can store surplus energy to use when the system isn’t generating energy, like at night. Sounds like a fantasy? It’s now a reality.

Solar panel technology has advanced a lot in the last few years, meaning that even in the UK with our unpredictable weather, every home can benefit.  The Smart Export Guarantee means that your electricity provider will pay you for any unused solar energy that is exported back to The Grid and they are easily installed on most roofs without planning permission.  The optimum position of roof is one that is facing between southeast and southwest but don’t let that deter you. All homes will benefit. Our team can guide you as the best size, placement and number of panels for your property along with battery storage solutions.

For example, it would cost £5000 to £6000 for a south facing 3-4 bedroom home installed with 12 4kW panels, however, this would generate approximately 4000kWh per year which is an approximate saving of around £800.

Once you have made the positive step towards solar panels, our team will guide you as to the best option for you, in terms of usage of that power. There are two options.

The Smart Export Guarantee allows you to export the unused solar energy back into the Grid, with your electricity supplier paying you for each kW that is fed back in.

Self Consumption Battery Storage Systems allow you to store energy that is generated during the day for use at night.  Whilst this would mean that very little is being exported into The Grid, it will reduce your electricity bills even further as you will be personally using the energy your solar panels generate.  Battery Storage Technology has significantly improved over the past few years meaning it is now easier and cheaper to fully benefit from full use of the free, zero-carbon electricity you produce everyday.
